So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye

Well, my friends, the siren call of America is singing to us and we can no longer resist. Our time in Taiwan is coming to an end soon and we're moving back to the States.

I'm sad to say that once we're back I probably won't be updating this blog anymore, but never say never, right? In any case, I'll still keep Hao Chr up and hopefully it can still be a resource for those of you who live here or those who you are visiting.

We're dedicating these last few weeks to going back and savoring our favorite meals before we go. But I was wondering, does anyone have any recommendations for foods or restaurants that we HAVE TO experience before we leave? Like, our Taiwan experience wouldn't be complete had we not had these foods? Post in the comments or drop me a line!

Well since I've been reading your blog for a while but never commented, I figure better late than never. So here goes my list of places to eat at before your departure;

Smith&Hsu - from what I've gathered, we're both close to Taipei City Hall MRT, and this is right between the exits on Zhongxiao. Proper tea and scones (with real clotted cream).

Mary's Bistro Cafe - in my opinion the best quality Western restaurant in Taipei, especially for what you're paying. I recommend the lamb shanks!

Mamm Goz - never would have imagined an authentic Bretagne restaurant in Taipei, but this place never ceases to surprise. They do really good galettes and real French cider.

Mykonos - the only place to go for Greek food in Taipei. Maybe my standards have been lowered here, but their lamb moussaka is out of this world.

Saveurs - really good, solid French cuisine. You know its good when you only hear French being spoken at the surrounding tables.

Hui Lui - never thought I'd be recommending a vegetarian restaurant, but I was really impressed by their use of ingredients.

Hope you get many good nights of eating in before you go :-)

Nesiote - Thanks for all the recommendations! I've actually eaten at Smith&Hsu and Mamm Goz before, but the rest of the places sound great! Hopefully we'll get to try out a few before we leave.

Tina - Thank you for your kind words!

Thanks for leaving the blog up, even though you're gone!

I just discovered it because my parents moved to Taipei, and I'm enjoying exploring the city whenever I come to visit.
